Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk will visit Washington in the coming days to meet with representatives of the American administration and business. This was announced by Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov, speaking in video format at the annual meeting of the American-Russian Business Council. He is quoted by TASS…
The Ambassador noted that Russian-American economic cooperation and pragmatic interaction at the company level are continuing. According to Antonov, the Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to meet on the issues of bilateral trade and investment.
The head of the Russian diplomatic mission noted that the United States is one of the leading economic partners of Russia, stressing that this year the volume of export-import operations between the two countries may reach “an important 30 billion milestone.”
Antonov added that, according to various estimates, there are more than 1.1 thousand companies with American capital in Russia and assured that “the Russian authorities do not intend to punish Western business for the” unfriendly “decisions of their governments”, since it is economic ties that today carry significant stabilizing potential for the entire range of bilateral relations in the dialogue with the United States.
The diplomat also summed up the results of Russian-American cooperation. In his opinion, the parties managed to establish a stable dialogue on a number of problems of global importance – from climate change to the Iranian nuclear deal. He noted that most of the problems have a “pronounced cross-border character” and such challenges can be reliably stopped only by working together.
