Fighter aircraft of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia in the area of the settlement of Pavlovka, Mykolaiv region, shot down a MiG-29 of the Ukrainian Air Force (AFU). This was announced on October 1 during a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov.
He added that air defense forces shot down 14 unmanned aerial vehicles in a day. Drones were shot down in the Kharkiv and Nikolaev regions, the Kherson region and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
Seven shells of American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and two HARM anti-radar missiles were destroyed in the air near Novaya Kakhovka, Kherson region. As Konashenkov added, a Tochka-U tactical missile was shot down over the village of Liptsy in the Kharkiv region.
Also on Saturday, he said that in the Nikolaev-Kryvyi Rih direction, as a result of repelling an enemy attack by Russian troops, more than 270 Ukrainian servicemen, five tanks, six infantry fighting vehicles, 23 armored combat vehicles and 11 vehicles were destroyed per day.
A day earlier, Konashenkov said that the Russian Aerospace Forces had destroyed up to 200 Ukrainian troops in the Kramatorsk region in the DPR. In the area of the city of Dnepropetrovsk, workshops for the assembly of Ukrainian operational-tactical missiles Grom-2 and Tochka-U were liquidated.
The special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region after the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
