The head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, signed a decree on the creation of the state information system “Modern digital educational environment”. It is published on the official website legal information.
The system is being created as part of the federal project “Young Professionals” to provide free access to all citizens to online courses. The functions of its operator will be performed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
It is noted that the information system should ensure the formation and maintenance of a register of online courses that are implemented in the country by various educational organizations.
In addition, it is assumed that it will ensure the integration of information systems of educational organizations with educational platforms, as well as the organization of centralized accounting of learning outcomes in online courses and accounting for educational programs of universities and additional vocational education.
At the end of July, Moscow City Duma deputy Margarita Rusetskaya reported that the demand for online advanced training courses rose sharply amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Ministry of Education and Science has previously published an analytical report on how Russian universities worked in the context of the pandemic and after it. The department concluded that the higher education system withstood such pressures.
