The ships of the Baltic and Black Sea fleets of Russia are reliably protected from enemy missile attacks by air defense systems, said RIA News Commander of the Black Sea Fleet (1998-2002) Admiral Vladimir Komoedov.
“Firstly, ships are not ships, they have a security and defense system and, most importantly, they are well armed. In addition, our ships are always covered from the air, and they themselves are maneuverable – it will not be so easy to hit them with missiles, all the more subsonic ones like Tomahawk and Harpoon. Such missiles are knocked down by our air defense, and they are knocked down with a sufficiently high accuracy, so there is no need to frighten the Baltic and Black Sea fleets, ”the admiral assured.
Thus, Komoedov commented on the publication of journalist David Ax in Forbes magazine, according to which two American strategic bombers B-1B Lancer have the ability to fire 48 AGM-158C Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) missiles at the Baltic Fleet.
In June, The Drive reported that the B-1B Lancer of the United States Air Force (Air Force), during flights with allies over the Black Sea in May, practiced the use of AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship missiles to destroy targets of a potential enemy.
