Russia Virtual Red Protest Rallies at Moscow Red Square – Forbidden Memorial Aims to Win One Million

The human rights organization Memorial is banned in Russia. It will continue to operate from Germany.

Moscow On the day of Russia’s victory, ie next Monday, a flamboyant military parade will be held on the Red Square, in connection with which the President Vladimir Putin presumably makes a warlike speech.

However, the Russian human rights organization Memorial has set up an option: a virtual peace protest aimed at gathering a million protesters on the Internet’s Red Square.

Virtual protest can be found at redsquareprotest.org. You can take part in the demonstration with a few clicks, making yourself part of the Red Square crowd.

“Many Russians are afraid to protest for fear of being persecuted,” said a member of Memorial’s management team. Anke Giesen on Friday in the bulletin.

“That is why we have created this digital option and appeal to everyone: come to our Red Square and express your opposition to the Kremlin’s propaganda screening.”

Memorialis banned in Russia, where the Supreme Court ordered its liquidation by a decision last December.

The fate of the memorial was finally sealed at the end of February when the Petitions Board rejected the organization’s appeal. At that time, Russia had just launched its offensive war on Ukraine.

Memorial will continue to operate abroad. German newspaper Bild says the organization plans to set up an office in Berlin.
