Explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital on Friday in response to the sinking of the ship “Moskva”
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday (April 15, 2022) that it will intensify its attacks on Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The Russian offensive against the city is a response to last week’s Ukrainian missions. The trigger was the bombing of the crusader ship Moscowwhich sank this Thursday (Apr 14).
“The number and scale of missile attacks on targets in Kiev will increase in response to any terrorist attacks or acts of sabotage on Russian territory committed by the nationalist regime in Kiev.”said the ministry.
The Russian promise seems to have already had an effect. At dawn and morning of this 6th (15.Apr), explosions were heard on the outskirts of Kiev, Ukraine’s largest city. It was the biggest attack since Russian troops left the capital in late March to focus their incursion into southeastern Ukraine.
The focus of the bombings was on a factory several kilometers from Kiev. Earlier this morning, Russian authorities reported that they had taken control of the Ilyich steel plant, located in Mariupol – the city hardest hit by Moscow’s incursion into the neighboring country.
Moskva: Russian war symbol
The main factor cited by the Kremlin to intensify the attacks on Kiev, the sinking of the ship in the Black Sea shook Russian honor. The cruiser was the most important of the Russian Navy in the region. The Moskva (Moscow in Russian) sank after being “seriously damaged” by an explosion on board.
Ukraine said it hit it with missiles in southern waters, while Moscow spoke of an ammunition detonation caused by a fire on board.
The Moskva was originally built in the Soviet era in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, and entered service in the early 1980s, according to Russian media. With a crew of approximately 500 people, the vessel was previously used in the Syrian war, where it served as naval protection for Russian forces’ Hmeimim air base.
