“We permanently call on our American counterpart to stop aggravating tension on the European continent. But, unfortunately, the Americans continue to do so,” said the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskovin his daily press conference.

He stressed that “now it is not just about provocative statements that there will be a war soon and that everyone will pay a terrible price, but about the sending of American soldiers to European countries” along the borders of Russia.
“It is evident that these are not steps aimed at de-escalation of tension; on the contrary, they are actions that increase tension,” stressed the spokesman for the Russian Presidency.
In this situation, Peskov added, Russia’s concern is fully justified, as are the measures it takes to ensure its safety. Asked what kind of measures these will be, the spokesman replied: “Those that are considered necessary by those who are in charge of guaranteeing our security.”

Washington announced on Wednesday that it will deploy “in the coming days” 3,000 soldiers in Romania, Poland and Germany to bolster its allies’ defenses against a possible Russian attack on Ukraine, which it no longer considers “imminent.”
By order of US President Joe Biden, some 1,000 soldiers will be sent to Romania and 2,000 to Poland and Germany.
“The current situation requires that we strengthen the deterrent and defensive posture on NATO’s eastern flank,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told a news conference.
