Vladimir Putin gave a hero’s welcome to the Russian citizens released as part of the prisoner exchange with the US and Germany. The Russian president arrived at Moscow’s Vnukovo-2 airport to greet the released citizens and waited for them near the steps of the plane that arrived from Ankara, Turkey, where the deal was concluded. The prisoners were greeted by about 40 ceremonial guards of the Presidential Regiment. “The homeland has not forgotten you,” Putin said, adding that the repatriated citizens will be honored with official awards.
