Foreign Ministry: Russia will seriously respond if France sends its troops to Ukraine
The director of the first European department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Artem Studennikov, against the backdrop of statements by French President Emmanuel Macron about the possibility of sending French troops to Ukraine, promised that in this case a serious response would follow from Russia, reports RIA News.
He stressed that, despite the fact that Macron’s bellicose rhetoric does not have widespread support in the EU and NATO, as well as among his compatriots, Moscow is forced to take his words seriously and treat them accordingly.
“You ask about our possible diplomatic reaction, but it is obvious that if such a scenario is realized, the response measures will lie far beyond the political plane,” the diplomat said.
Previously, Studennikov warned that the implementation of Macron’s plans would lead to the official transformation of Paris into the conflict in Ukraine, and the French military would become legitimate targets for the Russian army.
