Rusagrotrans: wheat exports from the Russian Federation may fall to 4.4-4.8 million tons in October
By the end of October 2024, the total export volumes of Russian wheat may fall to 4.4-4.8 million tons. Reports a likely decrease in exports of key agricultural products from the Russian Federation Interfax with reference to the forecast of analysts from the Rusagrotrans center.
For comparison, in October last year, domestic agricultural exporters were able to send a total of 5.1 million tons of wheat abroad. Thus, if the forecast of Rusagrotrans experts comes true, the export of these products could drop by 300-700 thousand tons.
Analysts argue that such dynamics may be facilitated, among other things, by the absence of a sharp rise in prices on the world market. Under these conditions, it is not profitable to send wheat to a foreign buyer. Against this background, experts also lowered the forecast for Russian wheat exports in September – from 5.47 to 5.35 million tons.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut reported that according to the results of the 2023-2024 agricultural year, which ended on June 30, a total of 72 million tons of grain were sent abroad from Russia. As for the current agricultural year, the volume of exports from the Russian Federation, according to the department, may be reduced to approximately 60 million tons.
