Russia Lavrov’s letter: Russia accuses Western countries of failing to comply with OSCE agreements and urges all countries to answer to Russia for their own sake, not in blocs

“Either there is security for everyone or there is no security for anyone,” Lavrov notes.

Russian the State Department released a Foreign Minister on its website late Tuesday Sergei Lavrovin a letter that raised a major topic in Finland. In addition to Finland, the letter was delivered to many other western countries.

In the letter, Russia accuses the United States and the military alliance NATO of endangering European security. According to Russia, the selective interpretation of international agreements has led to “the irresponsible enlargement of NATO”.

In his letter, Lavrov says that Russia is dissatisfied with the US and NATO responses last week about Russia’s security concerns.

The letter refers to the European Security Charter signed by the member states of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Istanbul in 1999. It says no country should strengthen its own security at the expense of other countries.

Russia urges each recipient country to provide “clear answers” to what they intend to do to act in the spirit of the OSCE and to strengthen its own security without compromising the security of others.

“Exactly how does your government intend to meet this requirement at a practical level in the current situation? If you are going to disappoint your promise in this regard, we ask you to say it directly, ”the letter states.

Russian considers that the responses of the United States and NATO clearly show how seriously the thinking of the West and Russia differs from the European security architecture.

“Either there is security for everyone or there is no security for anyone,” Lavrov says.

At the end of the letter, Lavrov states that Russia wants each country to be responsible, for its own part, not as part of any bloc, for the clarifications requested by Russia.

“We think it is necessary to clarify these issues immediately, as it will determine the prospects for our future dialogue,” the letter says.
