Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine led to Western sanctions.
It seems that the Russia is making every effort to avoid economic collapse in the wake of Western sanctions linked to Ukraine. The new plan? Legalize some forms of software piracy as a potential workaround for products whose companies have recently stopped distribution in Russia.
The Russian government would then have launched the idea of effectively lifting legal punishments for people using certain types of pirated software. That software is expected to come from companies that have supported current Ukraine-related sanctions against Russia, or where a software alternative is not available.
The West recently tried to exert severe economic pressure on Russia in an attempt to stop President Vladimir Putin’s illegal military invasion of Ukraine. The invasion recently prompted the G-7 nations to cut off vital economic flows into Russia. But a large number of private companies have also agreed to temporarily suspend product sales and licenses in Russia. Big tech names like Apple, Adobe, Samsung and Microsoft have all jumped on this bandwagon, making it virtually impossible for Russian citizens to purchase various goods.
As a result of all of this, the Russian government was quick to come up with creative strategies to keep the nation’s economy moving and to allow its citizens to continue using vital technology of Western origin.
