The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that its forces took control of the village of Ocheretin in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
The village is located northwest of the city of Avdiivka, which was one of the fortified sites for Ukrainian forces before Russia took control of it last February.
Russia has made steady progress since taking control of Avdiivka. Over the past weeks, Russian forces have been able to control a series of villages in the region.
This comes as the Ukrainian forces await the arrival of more weapons and military aid from their Western allies, especially the United States, which recently approved a new package of military aid worth tens of billions of dollars after months of delay by the US House of Representatives.
