Tsivilev: LNG production will increase to 100 million tons by 2035
Despite the sanctions, Russia still plans to increase production of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Energy Sergei Tsivilev, quoted by TASS.
According to him, by 2035 the production of this energy carrier will increase to more than 100 million tons. However, as Tsivilev clarified, it is still difficult to say exactly how much LNG the Russian Federation plans to export every year.
Previously, the Institute of Energy and Finance predicted that the total volumes of LNG shipments from Russia at the end of 2024 could increase by 11 percent when compared with 2023. In physical terms, this is 34.5 million tons. In 2023, Russia sold a total of 31 million abroad. In other words, exports of this energy carrier should increase by 3.5 million tons in 2024.
In turn, one of the buyers of Russian hydrocarbons, India, stated that it would not purchase LNG from Arctic LNG 2. The authorities of this country emphasized that they do not intend to buy something that is subject to broad sanctions.
