The Chinese Defense Ministry said today, Wednesday, that Chinese forces will go to Russia to participate in joint exercises with Russia and other countries, including India, Belarus and Tajikistan.
In a statement, the ministry added that China’s participation in the joint exercises “has nothing to do with the current international and regional situation.”
She explained that the exercises come within the framework of an ongoing annual agreement on bilateral cooperation.
China has participated in similar joint exercises led by Russia in recent years.
“The goal is to deepen practical and friendly cooperation with the armies of the participating countries, support the level of strategic cooperation between the participating parties, and enhance the ability to deal with various security threats,” the statement stressed.
