Savitsky: the radar field over Russia is expanding to control UAVs
The radar field is expanding over Russia to monitor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at low altitudes, including in dangerous directions. About this in an interview RIA News said Deputy General Director of the Almaz-Antey concern VKO Dmitry Savitsky.
According to him, the radar field is already significantly expanded than before the start of the special military operation (SVO), and continues to expand in various directions, especially where threats remain.
Savitsky noted that it allows for the timely detection and destruction of threatening drones and is built mainly on the concern’s radar systems, which can both operate in new conditions and were previously designed to detect low-flying targets.
Earlier it was reported that the Central Design Bureau of Apparatus Engineering (TsKBA) of the High-Precision Complexes holding began serial production of radar stations of the Russian airspace control system (SKVP). The development of serial production began in 2023.
In August 2023, the holding promised that the production of SKVP, intended, in particular, to counter unmanned aerial vehicles, would be increased multiple times.
In August 2022, at the international military-technical forum “Army-2022”, the Central Design Bureau presented the SKVP, designed to track swarms of aircraft, including small-sized drones.
