A new Chinese vaccine against the coronavirus “Convidecia” may be registered in Russia in 2021, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the Petrovax company, which is implementing a Russian-Chinese project for the production of the drug.
The company said that Petrovax submitted the necessary documents for registration of the vaccine with the Russian Ministry of Health back in November 2020. It is noted that at the moment “Convision” is undergoing the registration process. “We expect the decision of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation this year,” the company admitted.
The representative of the organization added that, in addition to China, “Convision” is used for mass vaccination of citizens in Mexico, Pakistan, Hungary and Kyrgyzstan. After registration in Russia, the company intends to produce the drug at its own production facility in the Moscow region, as well as export it. It is noted that Petrovax has been cooperating with the Chinese Cansino Biologics Inc since the beginning of 2020.
Earlier, Russia submitted an application for registration of another vaccine against COVID-19 – the Chinese drug V-01 from the pharmaceutical company Livzon Mabpharm Inc. It is now in its second phase of clinical trials. In addition, Russia approved joint trials of Sputnik Light and AstraZeneca vaccines.
