After the tests in Mexico and the last stage in Brazil, Formula 1 is ready to compete for the third consecutive week of GP, this time no longer in Latin America. For the first time in the history of the Circus, teams and drivers will compete in Qatar, for the first of the three events scheduled in the Middle East, the same ones that will constitute the final stages of the 2021 world championship.
These will also be the last for George Russell behind the wheel of the Williams, with the British driver ready to move to Mercedes from next season. The number 63, who reached 13th place in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, is now ready to get involved in winning the top ten on a new circuit for everyone like Losail, known for hosting MotoGP since 2004: “It is always very exciting to visit new tracks – he analyzed – so I’m looking forward to going to Losail this weekend. I have already tried it on the simulator in Grove, and I think it has a very interesting layout, with a lot of medium and high speed corners. The latter are connected by a long straight, which I think will offer many variables in terms of options set-up for all teams. If you could find the most correct one, this it could offer a great reward“.
Enthusiasm and expectations that are not lacking for Nicholas Latifi, even more willing to leave behind an unconvincing match like the one played at Interlagos: “I’m looking forward to the challenge of racing on a new track like Losail’s – commented – Formula One has never been to Qatar before, so all of us on the team we will have to update without historical data we usually have, but it will be a good fight. We will then have the opportunity to travel regularly to Qatar, as it will be on the calendar again starting in 2023. It will also be an interesting opportunity to explore the area, as it is also my first time in the country. We have a couple of new races coming up, with this event being followed by Saudi Arabia, and I am therefore eager to experience some brand new GPs ”.
