In 2018, it was leaked on social networks that “Gladiator”, winner of an Oscar for best film in 2001, was developing a sequel.

That same year, Deadline revealed that the plot would revolve around Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) and nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). However, the only thing that was known later this year is that the script had already been finalized.
According to portal sources, Ridley Scott would return to the director’s chair, just as he did more than 20 years ago when he released the first film.
