Running|Alisa Vainio ran the second best time in Finland’s all-time statistics in the marathon.
From Lappeenranta Alisa Vainio was at top speed at the Berlin Marathon on Sunday. Vainio set a new record time of 2.25.36. The Finnish Sports Federation explains this in its press release.
Vainio improved his previous record by almost two minutes after running last year in Seville. Vainio’s time was the second best in Finland’s all-time statistics. Above is just by Camilla Richardsson SE result 2.24.38.
“The final time was what was expected, but not quite with that speed distribution. The beginning was harder than I thought, but Alisa runs according to her own feelings”, says the coach who watched the race in Berlin Sami Turkulainen said in the release.
Vainio finished 14th in the race and was the third best European. The race was won by an Ethiopian Tigist Ketema with an excellent time of 2.16.42.
A men’s race was also run on Sunday. It was won by Ketema’s compatriot Milkesa Mengesha on 2.03.17.
