Recent rumors indicate that EA’s acclaimed horror series Dead Space will receive a new title very soon, which would be a “reimagining” of the first chapter rather than a sequel to the current trilogy. The game is reportedly in development at Motive Studios, and is essentially a “complete remake” of the first chapter. Other details: it seems that the development team looks like “Taking notes from recent remakes of Capcom’s Resident Evil series.”
The next Dead Space should use the first game of the old trilogy as a “solid foundation”, integrating some new game mechanics “inspired” by other titles in the series, as well as having (obviously) modern graphics. After Dead Space 3, which was more action-oriented, it looks like the remake could return to a gameplay style closer to survival horror. Once again, time will tell what is true and what is not, but if the rumors turn out to be true it would be good news for fans.
The remake is expected to be announced during the upcoming EA Play Live, which takes place on July 22nd. Electronic Arts has already confirmed that the event will last 40 minutes and will include titles such as Battlefield 2042, Lost in Random and Apex Legends, among others.
