Today, Al Qasimi Publications House released the “bold” historical novel written by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which was characterized by a wonderful and interesting style and is well documented.
“The novel deals with real events that accompanied the French diplomatic mission to Persia in 1702 AD,” where His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah told a true story of “Mary Petit” and how this woman was able to accompany the French ambassador to Persia to claim her debt that she lent to him, and how this boldness saved the mission and what happened to her On her return to France and how she was tried.
In the introduction to the novel, His Highness said: The bold is a true and well-documented story that narrates the events of “Mary Petty” and the diplomatic mission to Persia, where this story begins when the King of Persia wanted to establish an alliance with France to occupy Muscat by the Persians and help the French to them, as the Omanis controlled all the seas Surrounding Persia The King of France also desired that the French have trade with Persia like the Dutch and the British.
Arrangements were made for France to send a diplomatic mission to Persia, and after the French diplomatic mission went to Isfahan, the capital of the Persian state, it ended in failure. As for “Mary Petit,” her end was between imprisonment and trial.
The 86-page novel includes five chapters and dozens of foreign sources and references.
The novel is the latest publication of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, which has reached 76 publications in the historical, theatrical and literary fields, many of which have been translated into 20 foreign languages.
