Meredith, the crime 14 years ago: Guede the only one convicted
Merdith Kercher, known as Mez, an English student who has been in Perugia for a few weeks to study, is found lifeless on the morning of November 2, 2007. She is on the floor of her room, covered with a duvet and partially undressed.
She was fatally wounded by stab wounds the previous evening. On November 5, three people are arrested for murder and sexual assault: Amanda Knox, the victim’s American roommate, Raffaele Sollecito, her boyfriend, and Patrick Lumumba, owner of a pub where Amanda worked occasionally. Patrick is brought up by Amanda herself in a dramatic story to the investigators, according to which the man would have killed Meredith because, after having gone into the English room, the man would have been refused.
But fifteen days later, Lumumba was released from prison: he was at work at the time compatible with the crime. He will later come out of the story, in which, in the meantime, Rudy Guede, a young Ivorian who grew up in Perugia, enters. His some biological traces found in the house.
He was arrested on November 20, 2007 while in Germany, where, he said in the Skype conversation with a friend whom he was tracked by, he had run away for fear of not being believed. According to his account, in fact, on the night of the crime he was with Meredith for an intimate meeting. While he was in the bathroom with the music from the headphones, the fatal attack by a boy and a girl would have occurred that the Ivorian in fact has never well identified. At that point, he had tried to rescue Meredith, only to get away. Version that was not found to be reliable.
