Netflix announced a show inspired by the South Korean series; Brazilians can apply to try to participate
Netflix announced on Tuesday (14.jun.2022) a reality show inspired by the South Korean TV series “Round 6”. According to the company, 456 players will compete for the prize of US$ 4.56 million (R$ 23.3 million in the conversion carried out on June 15, 2022).
“Strategies, alliances and character are crucial to surviving tension. The stakes are high, but luckily, in this game, the worst that can happen to anyone is to go home empty-handed.”, says the company’s statement. In the series, some of those eliminated from the game over the course of 6 rounds – hence the name “Round 6” – end up dead.
“Squid Game: The Challenge” will feature 10 episodes. Interested in participating in the reality show can sign up by visiting here. You must be over 21, have a valid passport and speak English.

In 2021, “Round 6” was one of Neflix’s big hits, boosting the company’s Q3 earnings — the series launched in September. The announcement of the reality show and the 2nd season could be a way for the company to try to reverse the drop in subscriptions recorded in 2022.
