Tips for choosing blue cheese were published in Telegram– Rospotrebnadzor channel.
Before making a purchase in a store, experts urged not only to familiarize yourself with the expiration date of the product, but also to examine the condition of its packaging: it should be intact and without damage. “It should be taken into account that mold is a fungus, so there is a possibility of contracting fungal infections if the packaging of the cheese has been tampered with or the expiration date has expired,” the department said in a statement.
Storage conditions are also important. Because mold is a living organism that continues to grow in the product, improper storage can lead to the proliferation of pathogens. Therefore, it is important to examine the appearance of the cheese itself before eating: the mold must be uniform and undamaged.
“The best option is whole slices of cheese, which should be visually smooth and free of suspicious spots,” experts noted.
