Roscosmos sent law enforcement officers the results of an investigation about a “hole” in the hull of the Russian spacecraft Soyuz MS-09. This is reported with reference to the statement of the state corporation RIA News…
“All the results of the investigation regarding the hole in the living compartment of the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft were transferred to law enforcement agencies,” Roscosmos said.
In August, the general director of the state corporation Dmitry Rogozin said on the air of Echo of Moscow that the truth about what happened could harm bilateral relations in space. “Was there really a medical history?” – the editor-in-chief of the radio station Alexei Venediktov asked him. “Well, yes, but it’s better not to comment,” the head of Roscosmos replied.
In the same month, the American edition of ArsTechnica, citing a source at NASA, wrote that allegations that the hole in the hull of the Russian spacecraft Soyuz MS-09 was drilled by American astronaut Serina Aunyen-Chancellor are meaningless. The publication claimed that the US space agency knew the location of its astronauts at the moment when pressure began to drop on the International Space Station (ISS).
In August 2018, it became known about an air leak on the ISS, the source of which was the hole in the Soyuz MS-09, docked to the station in June of the same year. Visual inspection showed that the hole was the result of the drill deliberately hitting the hull of the ship. The Russian cosmonauts managed to quickly close the hole, and in December – to make a spacewalk for external examination.
