Nico Rosberg he has no reason to want to get back behind the wheel and rejoin Formula 1 as a driver. This is because, despite his passion for racing, the 2016 world champion has established a truly remarkable network of activities, with his own entrepreneurial activities, testimonial and influencer roles. All with a common thread, that of sustainability in the world of transport.
The former German driver recently participated in a forum organized by CNBC TV as a ‘sustainability entrepreneur’ and supporter of electric cars. Here is what Rosberg said in relation to the perception change necessary for electric cars to become the ‘favorite’ of motorists, and not the alternatives: “The idea of changing consumers’ ideas is the basis of many initiatives, such as motor racing on electric cars. In fact, a lot of people have changed their ideas and it’s happening really fast. This is also thanks to Tesla and traditional manufacturers who are showing their electric cars, such as the battery-powered Mercedes S-Class. However, many motorists are still resistant to the idea of driving an electric car: we, with racing, want to show them how interesting and fun these cars are. Price is still a major obstacle, but we’re getting there: we are approaching the point where an electric will cost as much as a traditional car“.
Rosberg also spoke in general about electric mobility and the main problems to be solved. “E-Mobility is the word of the future. There are many challenges, especially the one related to battery recycling: we will have to see where this will lead. There are early examples that show potential for commercial success. It is also good to see that potentially every continent could play a role in this transition“.
