There Rome prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the collapse of the overpass that occurred during the night between Saturday and Sunday during work on the D19 Diramazione Roma sud of the A1 Milan-Naples. The case, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Giovanni Conzo, hypothesizes the crime of negligent collapse in relation to the regulations on workplace safety. In the accident, a shunting worker was slightly injured.
What happened
During the activities planned for the complete demolition of the overpass called Vittorio Ragusa, scheduled for the night between 21 and 22 September following the night-time closure of the D19 Rome South Branch of the A1 in the Torrenova-Gra section, the old structure suddenly collapsed during construction operations for reasons currently being investigated by Anas.
Following all the technical checks carried out by the authorities, including the ASL inspectors, Anas resumed work on the construction site yesterday at 5:45. The overpass was completely demolished. The overall Anas intervention consists of the modernization of the new Torrenova junction, with the construction of a new and modern overpass to replace the structure that was completely demolished.
