Rome, 14-year-old denounces her parents: they forced her to beg and promised her to marry a stranger
In Rome, a 14-year-old girl denounced her parents who for years had forced her to beg and do housework, even with the threat of physical violence. The couple were arrested on charges of enslavement and grievous bodily harm. The two, of Bosnian origin, had also promised her daughter in marriage to a stranger in exchange for money, despite her refusal.
The girl is now in a secure facility, where she was placed after contacting the authorities. For the father and mother, aged 41 and 36, the investigating judge ordered the arrest in prison and house arrest respectively.
