In the triptych against Juventus, Napoli and Milan, the Giallorossi must reverse the negative trend in high-ranking matches: in the last two seasons only 7 points out of 36
The only time that Roma won at Juventus in the last ten years, the game didn’t count for anything. It was the last day of the 2019-2020 championship, the one ended in the height of summer after the stop due to the pandemic and Sarri’s Juventus, with the head, was already on vacation as Italian champion, so much so that Rome did not struggle more than so much to impose himself with the goals of Kalinic and Perotti (brace). When the game counted, however, the Giallorossi in the new Juventus home have always suffered and who knows if Mourinho will reverse the trend. It wouldn’t be the only one, though.
Head-to-head flop
–
Because in recent years Roma have always suffered – a lot – from direct clashes and in the only one of this championship played so far (the derby) things have not gone better. Now Mou, between Juve, Napoli and Milan (Cagliari will also be in the middle) has the possibility of reversing the course, starting with the match in Turin on Sunday evening. With Fonseca, out of 36 points available in head-to-head matches, Roma took home just 7 and this too weighed (a lot) in the two seasons just ended. On a numerical level, of course, but also on a mental level, because Dzeko and his teammates never had the perception that it was possible to make the leap in quality.
Equilibrium
–
Mourinho knows perfectly well that to grow you need heavy victories and for this reason he has started hammering in the heads of the players for days, at least those who stayed with him in Trigoria. Without exaggerating, however, so as not to make the team too loaded. And this too was served by the three days of vacation last weekend.
Plan
–
If, nationally permitting, Roma will have everyone at their disposal Mourinho will play against Juventus with the formation – such as: Rui Patricio in goal, Karsdorp on the right, Mancini and Ibanez in the center (Smalling out) while on the left there is the only doubt between Vina, who returns from South America on Saturday, and Calafiori. In the middle of the field Veretout and Cristante, on the trocar Zaniolo, Pellegrini and Mkhitaryan and at the center of the Abraham attack. Mou, therefore, will fly to Turin with his loyalists, obviously postponing the turnover to next Thursday’s challenge in Bodo in the Conference League. Against his eternal rival in 7 games (Inter and Manchester) Mou has won four times, drew once and lost two, while against Allegri in 8 previous games he won 4 games, drew 2 and lost the other two. In this case the goal is to maintain the positive tradition.
