‘France Football’ advances the results of the voting that gave the Spanish midfielder the winner ahead of the Brazilian striker
The magazine ‘France Football’ has announced the results of the Ballon d’Or voting, revealing that Rodri Hernández beat Vinicius by only 41 votes, a slim difference that reflects the dispute over the award for the best footballer of the season.
Rodri received 1,170 votes from the 99 journalists from around the world who were asked for their opinion, while the Real Madrid player was left with 1,129. According to ‘France Football’, in absolute value it is not the smallest difference between the first two in the history of the trophy, but it is with the new format, which gives 15 points to the first place, 12 to the second and 10 to the third.
The French magazine will publish the bulk of the results this Saturday, but has announced that a total of seven players, apart from Rodri and Vinicius, were cited at least once in first place. Namely: Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, Lautaro Martínez and Ademola Lookman.
In addition, it reveals that of the 99 members of the jury, five did not include Rodri in their Top 10, while there were three who left Vinicius out of those top ten positions.
