Tetsuya Chiba, the mangaka who created the famous Ashita no Joe, known in Italy as Rocky Joe, was hospitalized in Tokyo, as announced today via a blog post. 82 years old, he made his debut in the manga world in 1956, and in 1968 he began the serialization of his most successful work. Chiba experienced the first symptoms towards the end of last summer. At the hospital, abnormalities were found in his heart valve, coronary artery and throat. Chiba apologizes for the inconvenience caused and announces his gradual recovery to return to full health.
The manga of Rocky Joe is published in Italy under the label of Star Comics. It is currently available in its final version, the Perfect Edition.
