Roblox denounced it youtuber Robert Simon, better known as Ruben Sim, for fraud and repeated violations of the license agreement. Note that Simon is banned for life from Roblox, but that hasn’t stopped him from annoying the large community around the game and the developers themselves.
The company is seeking compensation of 1.6 million dollars for the damage caused by the actions of Ruben Sim. Roblox’s legal counsel described Simon as the leader of a “cybermob” gang, which with premeditation, willful misconduct and threats committed and encouraged illegal acts aimed at harming Roblox and its users.
According to the text of the lawsuit, the youtuber has amassed more than 760,000 followers on YouTube after the ban, in addition to 24,000 on Twitter and subscribers on Patreon. In short, the accused would have earned money on Roblox’s skin, as well described: “The focus of its content on social media is aimed at spreading insults and completely fabricated accusations about Roblox, its employees and other users. His followers would become a kind of cult that acts as a sounding board for the conduct of the accused, harassing and threatening the employees of Roblox and its users.“
Among Simon’s harassing behavior, the publication of false terrorist threats against the events of Roblox, as well as the glorification of the 2018 attacks on the YouTube headquarters, with the threat of doing the same with that of Roblox.
For example, Simon allegedly posted tweets and messages stating that the police were looking for an Islamic extremist at the Roblox Developers Conference 2021, forcing the police to temporarily suspend the event. The tweets in question have been deleted, but may have been kept by those in charge. Roblox said the incident cost $ 50,000 to investigate and secure.
The lawsuit also claims that Simon has tried multiple times to evade hers ban, returning to the game. He also cyberbullied against Roblox staff, including executives. Among other allegations, those of having held sexual conversations with other users, as well as having used racist and homophobic slurs in chat, behavior that violates the license agreement of Roblox.
Simon, for his part, did not comment on the story, limiting himself to publishing a tweet in which he states that he wants to make the work of his lawyers and the court as simple as possible: “When all this is over, you will have my testimony.”
