Twelve people have been arrested in Milan by police who believe they are part of a gang of robbers. These are Italian citizens, aged between 40 and 67, held responsible, in various capacities, for the crimes of possession of weapons and ammunition, possession and receiving of law enforcement uniforms of illicit origin, possession of narcotic substances .
The investigative activity of the flying squad was launched after the robbery which took place on 4 November 2021 against a Milanese goldsmith's workshop in Via Assab, where five of them, armed with guns and totally disguised, had taken possession of finished and semi-finished products in gold and palladium, as well as other precious materials, for an estimated value of around one million euros. The subsequent in-depth investigations conducted by the policemen of the Property Crimes Section made it possible to identify a group of criminals suspected of being involved in various capacities in the robbery and, during the investigations, thanks to the technical interception activity, the planning emerged of another robbery to be carried out in the province of Varese.
Furthermore, in November 2022, agents identified the apartment in Viale Romagna in Milan used by the criminal group to hide weapons, ammunition, law enforcement uniforms and everything necessary to carry out the robberies. During the search, a cal. pump-action shotgun was seized. 12 Francs, a pistol cal. 22 Browning, both proceeds of theft, one cal. 7.65 Beretta with serial number worn off and ammunition compatible with the aforementioned weapons. Also in the same place, approximately one kilo of cocaine was found, divided into envelopes, some uniforms and a badge of the Guardia di Finanza, as well as uniforms of express couriers. For ten suspects the investigating judge ordered precautionary custody in prison, while for two of them the precautionary measure of house arrest was ordered.
