Last autumn, Colbrelli also won the Paris-Roubaix race, one of the so-called monuments, the most prestigious one-day races in road cycling.

Colbrelli has won more than 30 competitions in his professional career.

Catalonia the opening stage of the tour was won shortly before Colbrell by an Australian Michael Matthews.

Driving in the AG2R Citroën Team in France Jaakko Hänninen came to the finish three minutes from the tip. During the race, Hänninen was given responsibility for driving loose.
