The RKI reports a lower incidence of 146.6 compared to the previous day. Before that, the value had always risen. However, the decline could possibly still be caused by the holiday effect.
Berlin – The nationwide seven-day incidence has fallen again. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Wednesday morning as 146.6. The previous day the value was 153.7, a week ago it was 118.0.
Because of the All Saints holiday in five federal states, fewer infections may have been reported recently. In the days before that, the incidence had always risen noticeably – but with a more or less constant, but not increasing, dynamic. The RKI did not initially name any other possible reasons for the falling number of new infections.
Within one day, the health authorities in Germany reported 20,398 new corona infections to the RKI. This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4:20 a.m. A week ago the value was 23,212 infections. According to the new information, 194 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 114 deaths. The RKI has counted 4,638,419 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.
The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days – the most important parameter for a possible tightening of the corona restrictions – was given by the RKI on Tuesday as 3.29 (Monday: 3.46). With the indicator it must be taken into account that hospital admissions are sometimes reported with delay. A nationwide threshold value from when the situation can be viewed critically is not provided for the incidence of hospitalization, among other things because of large regional differences. The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.
The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 4,315,100. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 96 027. dpa
