S.or for more than a week, the seven-day incidence has increased every day. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 1548 new corona infections this Wednesday morning. That is 563 more than on Wednesday a week ago, when 985 new infections were reported.
The nationwide seven-day incidence continues to rise – to 7.1 after 6.5 the previous day. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected with the corona virus in the past seven days. On July 6, the value was 4.9.
28 other people died related to the virus. This increases the number of reported deaths to 91,287 within 24 hours.
The total number of corona infections recorded in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic is 3,738,683. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected. The RKI states the number of people recovered from a corona infection at around 3,636,800.
R-value consistently above 1
According to RKI data from Tuesday, the reproductive number, which is decisive for the speed at which the coronavirus spreads, was 1.11 and has thus been above the value of 1 for more than a week. If the value is consistently above 1, the number of cases increases. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection rate subsides. The R-value was previously well below 1 for around two months.
The incidence has so far been the basis for many corona restrictions in the pandemic, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June. The more people are vaccinated, the rarer there will be severe courses of the Covid-19 disease after infection. In the future, further values such as hospital admissions are to be taken more into account.
Vaccination quota is important
For example, the Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Malu Deyer, pushed for changed criteria for assessing the situation. “We now need a new warning level,” said the SPD politician to the newspapers of the Funke media group. “The incidence remains an important warning factor, but we have to readjust. The higher the vaccination rate, the less severe the disease will be and the health system will not be overloaded as quickly. ”Therefore, the situation in the hospitals must be more closely involved. You consider a nationwide solution to be necessary.
