Risks from nuclear emergency, the government prepares the National Plan

Rome – The council of ministers has prepared a draft of National plan for the management of radiological and nuclear emergencies. The Plan was prepared on the basis of the provisions of a European directive of 2013 adopted in Italy with legislative decree 101 of 2020. In recent years, the debate on the use of nuclear energy for civil purposes has reopened in Italy and Europe. However, the draft of the Italian government intervenes at a time when there is talk of nuclear risks linked to the war in Ukraine.

The draft of the Plan was sent by the Civil Protection Department and will be discussed in a technical meeting of the State Regions Conference convened by the Prime Minister for next Thursday 10 March.
