The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, announced that tomorrow (18) a new decree will be published allowing maximum capacity in places such as theaters, cinemas, circuses, museums, shopping malls, party houses and event spaces, amusement parks, zoo and other spaces. It is another step taken by the municipality that has been relaxing the restrictive measures adopted to combat the covid-19 pandemic. The mandatory use of mask in all these spaces will be maintained.
The announcement was made during the reopening event of CineCarioca Nova Brasília. The 91-seat movie theater, located in Complexo do Alemão, is the first one installed in a community in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. The space opened in 2010 had been closed since December 2019, even before the start of the pandemic in Brazil.
“We recovered, put it to work and the population can now have access to culture equipment of this quality,” said Paes.
He was there accompanied by the Secretary of Government and Public Integrity, Marcelo Calero, and the CEO of RioFilme, Eduardo Figueira.
According to the city hall, CineCarioca Nova Brasília is the only movie theater option in the area that comprises the 15 communities of Complexo do Alemão. They have about 60 thousand inhabitants.
Four or five sessions will be held daily, with tickets starting at R$ 5. The program will include films for different age groups.
