On October 2, 2024, the world will witness one of the most fascinating astronomical phenomena: an annular solar eclipse, known as “Ring of Fire”During this event, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun, creating an impressive visual effect where the satellite does not completely cover the star, leaving a bright ring around it.
This annular eclipse will be visible in its entirety in parts of South America, such as Chile and Argentinaand in some areas of the Pacific Ocean. However, in Mexicoonly a small part of the event can be observed.
What time will the eclipse be visible in Mexico?
Although the “Ring of Fire” eclipse will not be completely visible in Mexico, the regions of La Paz and Cabo San Lucasin Baja California Sur, will be able to see a fraction of the eclipse, approximately 11%. The show will begin at 9:48 am (local time) and will peak at 10:10 am.. During this brief period, residents of these areas may notice a slight darkening of the sky, although not to the extent of the total eclipse.
Although the annularity will not be experienced in all its splendor in Mexico, those interested in following the complete eclipse will be able to do so through live broadcasts made by agencies such as the POT wave European Space Agency (ESO), who will probably be closely following the phenomenon from the best observation points.
Remember that it is never safe to look directly at the Sun without proper protection. Make sure to use special eclipse solar glasses or certified filters to prevent eye damage.
