After a long week of work, there is nothing better than a nice ride to release all the tension and enjoy a little healthy life. Many motorcyclists claim it, and there is no better way, for those in the saddle, to try the so-called sense of freedom. According to a recent survey, backed by financial services company Asda Money, the motorcycle can be really good for your health from a physical and psychological point of view. About 1000 motorcyclists were interviewed in this context, to find out what is more beautiful about riding a motorcycle, and the opinions were also validated by the famous centaur Leon Haslam.
There are several reasons why a motorcyclist feels happy once in the saddle: the sense of freedom (59% of the interviewees support it); the thrill of driving (40%), the possibility of traveling (34%). But, and this is somewhat of the hidden news of the poll, it looks like going on a motorcycle it greatly improves the mental condition of the driver or passenger. Improving mental health does not mean simply overcoming a stressful situation beyond the alert level, but a real contribution to the fight against treacherous pathologies, such as anxiety and depression. Well, based on the survey, five good reasons can be found to ride, feel better, and be happier.
Mood improvement. According to science, riding releases endorphins and dopamine, substances and molecules that essentially make us euphoric. The speed, the sense of freedom, even the ‘slowness’ of parking and seeing new places bring this kind of happiness to the next level.
Disconnection from technology. When your driving concentration is at its peak, your cell phone, notifications on social networks, and expected e-mails don’t matter at all. Disconnecting from the online world inevitably leads to a connection with real passions. Of course, today’s motorcycles are heavily connected – the point is actually to keep your phone aside and enjoy more natural moments.
Fresh air. Opening the visor a little is not bad, especially when the conditions and the type of travel allow it, it gives a sense of immersion in the surrounding nature. Fresh air reduces stress, according to scientific evidence.
Meeting new people. The ability of motorcyclists to make friends is out of the question: to form a small community it is enough to have a chat at the bar, during a stop on the sidelines of a long journey. Motorcycling is a perfect way to make new friends and join a real network of live experiences. No longer just online. The possibility of sharing a passion is a system that allows many people to come out of their shells and confide in each other, making coexistence with everyday problems less burdensome.
Concentration skills. Leon Haslam says: “For me it’s wonderful how motorcycling can offer a way out of everyday problems for so many people. The concentration required to drive is such that all the small limits of everyday life are forgotten. And even if this happens for a short time, the value of the improvement is incalculable. Racing is obviously an extreme, but some sensations experienced by professionals can also be realized by those who simply go for a cross or a ride on the road bike.“.
