The Honey Badger looks around
In recent years the seat of Daniel Ricciardo in F1 he was rather precarious. The Australian had been dropped by McLaren at the end of 2022, who had preferred his young compatriot Oscar Piastri, who quickly became a point of reference not only for the team but for the entire Circus. After half a season spent on the bench, the Honey Badger had however Found a starting seat in Racing Bullsbut found himself struggling against his new teammate, Yuki Tsunoda.
While waiting to define what his future will be in 2025, Ricciardo let himself go into some confidences with the Australian site Tourism Western Australiapartially opening the doors to what would be a rather sensational life change – on a sporting level: a future move to NASCARin the motor racing series that receives the most media attention in the USA.
NASCAR what a passion
“There are things I would like to try and experiment with, I don’t know, let’s say on a competitive level. – Ricciardo said in the interview – I grew up as a kid a NASCAR fan. and I would love to drive a NASCAR car. I would love to drive at Daytona, for example”. #3’s passion for stock cars is well known: his racing number, for example, is dedicated to the historic #3 car driven by Dale Earnhardt, seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.
The former Red Bull team star is aware of thehuge leap that would be required to go from driving an F1 to a stock car: “Would I like to compete? Yes and no – acknowledged Ricciardo – because I know I didn’t grow up doing this kind of races and I would probably get ‘roasted’, so I don’t know if I would need it. But I would like to have this experience”.
