The current mayor of São Paulo and candidate for reelection, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), arrived at around 9:50 am to vote at Escola Dom Duarte Leopoldo e Silva, in Socorro (SP).
He arrived accompanied by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), and the president of the São Paulo City Council, Milton Leite (União Brasil).
After the vote, the mayor spoke to journalists and defended that there should be “tranquility” during the election. “I hope that we can have a very peaceful day, that we can have a very different day than many of the episodes during the election period. It was a period, in many moments, of aggression, attacks, lies and fake news”.
“Today, the population goes to the polls and can have peace of mind to make their best decision. I am sure that we will be in the 2nd round and, starting tomorrow, we will begin a new stage, which will show, based on the results of the polls, that the population rejects the attacks and lies”, said Nunes.
Regarding the debates, the mayor states that he would like to have discussed more proposals. “I will not deny a small disappointment at the level of the debates. I really wanted at this moment in my life to be able to discuss the city during the election period, to be able to talk about what we got right and what we got wrong, but what we had, in part of these debates, were a lot of lies, attacks, punches and chairs.” .
