In some ways, cinema is slowly returning to normality. We have all kinds of movies and for all tastes. Of course we can see it as a topic of entertainment or depth, criticism and absolutist thinking to make you see what is interesting. Bad Boys: Until Death It is anything but what we have just encapsulated for you.
Also known as Bad Boys Ride or Die is directed by Adil & Bilall and produced with money from Will Smith. The truth is that if this actor does not put his name forward, he will not be invited to do any production due to him with Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.
Now, the reason why this movie exists is totally justified. It seems not, but yes. The truth is that it is a product that is very well put together, but also with some certainly questionable points. Of course, now you will say: “but you just wrote that it is justified”, however I cannot say that the script is going to win awards either.
Finally, the existence of this film – with a high dose of adrenaline – is justified because people like it. The “bad boys” series has a captive audience that will soon exceed 3 decades (the first came out 29 years ago). So what’s wrong if we do another one? Overall, he pulls and it goes well.

Bad Boys: Hasta la Muerte is entertaining, but nothing more
What are we left with about Bad Boys?
Bad Boys: Until Death continues with the adventures of Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and also Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrance). Both are police officers who end up in a series of troubles with major criminals armed to the teeth, but due to their tenacity and irreverence, they end up getting ahead regardless of the problem in front of them.
But, life is not easy for both of them. To get to this film, they went through losses, misunderstandings, broken loves and many complicated moments. Come on, both Mike and Marcus are role models, but they have a righteous heart and that is what matters to the audience that consumes these films.
The plot of this film revolves around how Mike and Marcus’ dead boss is framed for embezzlement, arguing that he was working for more than a decade with cartels. Now, to better understand this topic, it is necessary to have seen Bad Boys: For Lifebecause there is a lot of talk about a son that Mike had and how some guerrillas wanted his head.
The “bad bad guy from malolandia” is a former military man who was tortured in Colombia. Mike and Marcus’s boss investigated him, he knew they had too many crooked businesses and that’s why he was executed and framed after he died. Our heroes can’t trust anyone, because they too were tainted. This is the biggest challenge they have faced.
It is to put the brain in neutral and let yourself be carried away by action.
To fully understand the context of Bad Boys: Until Death Yes, it is necessary to know the film series because many references are made to the previous films. Now, if you let yourself go, you will see that you will be entertained by all the investigation, persecution and more.
Come on, the execution is not perfect or worthy of an Oscar, but at least it is entertaining because of all the action scenes. What’s superfluous are those pauses that this film has over and over again every time a shootout ends or Mike and Marcus argue, because these jokes and dialogues are more like for television, not for movies.
The humor of the film often leaves us thinking about details like… what moments are we watching? Especially Martin Lawrence’s character who now believes himself to be immortal because he managed to overcome a heart attack and in a dream/hallucination he was told that it was not his time to die, that at the end of the day he was pushed to the limit.
As I already mentioned, it is not a film that is going to make you think or reflect on the corruption that may exist in the Miami police. It will only leave a good taste in your mouth because there are very tense and obvious moments that will entertain you. We can even say that Jacob Scorpio – Mike’s son in the movie – looks like an action hero with Latin blood.
You shoot like you play Call of Duty
One of the most outstanding details of Bad Boys: Until Death is that it has some very good shots that are in first person. There are previews of the film that show us how several of the scenes were executed. It’s not that they brought a smartphone or anything like that, they did create a good device that followed Will Smith in many parts of the film.
There are moments when you feel like you are in Will Smith’s footsteps and at other times you feel like you are following him very closely. It may not seem like a big deal, but the way this technique was carried out was quite effective. On the other hand, the special effects, choreography and other key elements in this film are executed very well.
Maybe the film is not going to win an award for cinematography, but it doesn’t matter if we have to recognize that all the settings, landscapes and so on, which are often like “chile, mole and pozole” at least have some congruence with what that the director wants to expose, which is ultimately the narrative of a persecution and the redemption of the eternal leaders of the series.
Now, an additional issue arises from these shots and that is whether there really can be more of these films. Will Smith is in perfect physical shape and is 55 years old. He doesn’t have any problem… Well, with Hollywood he does, but that’s another topic. Martin Lawrence is already 59 and it doesn’t look like he can make another action movie of this size. But, as the arguments of Bad Boys: Until Death They are very tough, maybe I really can do it. Let’s not rule out a fifth if it recovers more than the investment.
Should you go see Bad Boys: Hasta la Muerte?
Whatever it is for each one, Bad Boys: Until Death It is not a pretentious film that will seek to teach you something about life. On the contrary, the joke is that we have incredible action scenes where the heroes’ aim succeeds until the last bullet and, at least in this installment, the antagonists put the heroes in check.
These kinds of premises make action movies very worthwhile, especially those set in places in the United States that you can somehow relate to organized crime, cartels or gangs. Come on, Miami is a setting for Grand Theft Auto. Why wouldn’t it be a setting for a Will Smith movie?
Don’t go with so many expectations, that is another reality. Even wait until it’s on Max or Netflix. If you are a big fan, grab some popcorn and soda promotion so you feel like it wasn’t much you paid after spending on tickets. There is
very good audio, so if you can, watch in Macro XD.
