The Social Security reform, approved in 2019, continues to change the retirement rules. For 2022, the changes will mainly affect women.
Before the reform, women were able to apply for retirement with the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) from the age of 60 onwards. After the reform, enacted on November 13, 2019, a six-month increase in retirement age was enforced each year.

In other words, a woman who wants to retire in 2022 must be 61 years and 6 months old, in addition to a minimum contribution of 15 years to the INSS. In 2023, the minimum age of 62 will be set.
For men, there is a minimum age of 65 and 15 years of contribution with the INSS for those who already contributed before retirement. Those who started to contribute after the 2019 Social Security Reform, the contribution time increased to 20 years.
The value of pensions for 2022 will still be defined as it depends on the calculation of inflation for the 12 months of 2021, which should be released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in January 2022.
So far, with annual inflation estimated at 10.04%, the minimum is expected to rise from R$1,100 to R$1,210. The INSS payment ceiling will also change from R$6,433 to R$7,076 in 2022.
