Russian retailers have received letters from a number of suppliers and manufacturers of confectionery products about the upcoming price hike. The manufacturing company “Akkond” announced a rise in prices for products in the range of 5-20% from December 1. The brands Krasny Oktyabr, Babaevsky, Korkunov will also increase the cost of the assortment.
Retailers Verny, Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, Utkonos Online confirmed to Izvestia that they had received letters with a request to increase the selling prices for sweets.
Manufacturers cite an increase in the prices of ingredients and packaging. The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that confectioners work in conditions of significant growth in costs.
“Verny” received a letter from the manufacturer “Akkond” in early November. The company has reported price increases for various products from 4.7% to 20.5% since December 1. The reason was the increase in cost, the rise in prices for raw materials, packaging and fuel and lubricants. The retailer is still considering the manufacturer’s requirement.
For the brands Krasny Oktyabr, Babaevsky (part of the United Confectioners company) and Korkunov, prices have already been revised and increased by 6%. This was the second increase in prices for the year, since in the spring of 2021 the price for products was already up 6%, noted in “Verny”.
Utkonos Online received the same letter in October. Manufacturers justified the rise in prices by rising prices for logistics and raw materials: sugar, molasses, cocoa and hazelnuts. The retail chain accepted the price increase without specifying the brands.
The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture explained that the enterprises of the Russian confectionery industry are operating under conditions of significant growth in costs.
“This is due to the rise in the cost of packaging, raw materials, electricity, transport services and other cost components. At the same time, manufacturers restrain a sharp rise in prices for their products, including by optimizing internal processes and reducing margins, ”the department explained.
The increase in the selling price of confectionery products is not systemic. It affects only individual enterprises and a certain range, the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized.
