Restrictions Government sources for HS: Marin ignored Kiuru and STM in aligning faster deregulation

The prime minister discussed a change in the line agreed last week with the rest of the government’s lead five but ignored the ministry of social affairs and health, HS is told.

Prime minister Sanna Marin (sd) said on Tuesday that the government is considering lifting interest rate restrictions faster than planned. Marin ignored the Minister of Family and Basic Services in his policy Krista Kiurun (sd) led by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, government sources are informed of the HS.

Marin wrote on Twitterthat the government will assess the need for restrictive measures.

“The opening of low-risk cultural and sporting events with a corona passport and the extension of the opening hours of food restaurants must be considered on a faster schedule than previously estimated.”

According to HS, Marin discussed lifting the restrictions with the chairmen of other government groups. However, the policy was not approved by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, which is responsible for preparing restrictive measures. Pregnant Minister Kiuru said earlier on Tuesday having to visit the Women’s Clinic and staying on sick leave for two days.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has pursued a stricter line in interest rate restrictions than, for example, the Department of Health and Welfare THL.

Only last week, the government agreed in its negotiations that the current restrictive measures should be continued at least until mid-February.

“If the epidemic situation allows, the phasing out of restrictions and the reintroduction of the corona passport could start after mid-February. The order and manner of lifting the restrictions will be outlined in the updated interest rate strategy, and the Board will decide on the matter separately later, ”the Board said. in its bulletin.

In accordance with the government’s agreement, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has prepared government decrees for this week’s Thursday extending the current restaurant restrictions and corona passport for two weeks. Most obviously, a sudden change is now coming to this plan.

In recent days, Marin’s head has been turned by, among other things, the policies of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and several other regions to ease restrictions in the hands of regional government agencies. The government does not want to continue closing food restaurants in the evenings, for example, if, at the same time, more and more areas open, for example, gyms before mid-February, contrary to the government’s recommendation.

The board will meet this week or next week to negotiate further restrictions on restaurant restrictions and the corona passport. The current settings will expire early next week. However, if necessary, they can be extended for a few days, for example, if the government ends up negotiating the lifting of restrictions only at the beginning of next week.

According to HS, the date of the government’s negotiations has not yet been agreed. THL’s new assessment of the epidemic situation is expected to be completed in the coming days.

Bridge at the moment, restaurants should stop drinking at 5pm and close their doors at 6pm. Restrictions cannot be waived with a corona passport. Extending the opening hours of food restaurants is easy with a government decree.

In contrast, the opening of low-risk cultural and sporting events with a corona pass, as evoked by Marin, is more complicated. At the end of the year, the government wanted to freeze the interest rate pass only for high- and medium-risk events, but the law did not conform to it. If the government now decides to make the corona passport available, it should in principle be used in all transactions.

The situation described by Marin can still materialize if the regional government agencies decide to ban high- and medium-risk events altogether, but only limit the number of participants to low-risk events. In that case, high- and medium-risk events could still not be organized, but low-risk events could be organized freely with the help of an interest rate passport.

Places of low risk are THL rating such as cinemas and indoor public events where spectators have their own seats.
