Employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry moved forward to evacuate a tourist who rolled down a mountain in Sakhalin during the ascent and cannot continue on his own. This is stated in a message published on January 24 at website regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The incident took place in the Makarovsky district of the Sakhalin region in the area of the Tikhaya bay. Three tourists climbed the “Brave” peak. One of them has rolled down the slope and cannot climb on its own.
A group of rescuers from the Polyakov Sakhalin search and rescue squad of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, as well as an ambulance team from the local regional hospital, police officers and firefighters from the Vostochnoye village, moved to the scene.
On January 18, an avalanche descended on the ski slope in the Dombai village. Snow covered two trailers with equipment rental. The cafe was damaged.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that at the time of the accident, there could be from four to 12 people on the highway.
Six people got out from under the snow on their own. Another person, President of the Federation of Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding “Dombay” Hadji-Murat Marshankulov, was killed. Later, four tourists who did not get in touch after an avalanche were found while visiting hotels.
