The reports and inquiries tonight
New appointment with Report’s best of summer – the transmission by Siegfried Ranucci – which is back on the air with the replay of some of the most successful services of the last seasons. We will talk about Logistics: Alberto Nerazzini investigates a crucial sector of the economy, where abuses and illegalities reign, tax evasion and the interests of criminal entrepreneurship, often a direct expression of the mafia. A world of inequality and injustice where the future of Europe is also at stake.
Among today’s Report services there is also one on counterfeiting. In Italy 19 million people buy online. But on Amazon and Ebay, as well as on the Chinese platforms Alibaba and Taobao, there is an incalculable amount of fake branded products. How do they recognize each other? Just choose well-known brands and do an online search. If a product comes out with the price very different from the original one, it is likely that it is a fake. There is a large amount of counterfeit products even among the spare parts, which then mix with the original product creating damage to the consumer or to the company when it has to repair under warranty. From the beginning of the year to today, 2.6 million packages have entered Italy from our airports, but the Customs Agency manages to control only 5% of the goods.
Genetics. In Italian courts, more and more defendants are asking for DNA evidence. If until now it has always been used only to frame the guilty, for some time it can also be used to exonerate them. According to some studies, some people’s aggression may in fact depend on their DNA. The scientific world is very divided on the validity of these theories, but recently in two different homicide trials, the defendants got a sentence discount because the DNA test showed that they had a genetic predisposition to be aggressive. Report awaits you tonight, Monday 12 July 2021, in prime time from 21.20 on Rai 3.
