Goodbye Kadjar, welcome Renault Austral. As anticipated in recent weeks there will not be a second generation of the current model of the French car manufacturer, or rather there will not be with the same name. The transalpine brand has in fact formalized the handover within the range, with Renault Austral who will take the place of the Kadjar among the brand’s SUVs. The debut of the new model has been set for spring 2022, anticipating its arrival with a first teaser showing the rear part where the new name and the two-dimensional Losanga launched with the Renaulution plan stand out.
The name derives from the Latin “australis”, with the word Austral being a widespread word, present in many European languages. Written in full, it boasts the manufacturer’s French origins. “Austral also refers to the colors and warmth of the southern hemisphere. AND a name that invites you to travel and is perfect for an SUV. It has a harmonious, balanced and easy to pronounce phonetics for everyone, an international name ” explained Sylvia Dos Santos, Head of Nomi Strategy at the Renault Brand’s Global Marketing Department. The new Austral SUV will combine technology, roominess and driving pleasure with the aim of setting new standards in the compact SUV segment. Austral, with a total length of 4.51m, can accommodate up to 5 passengers. Renault thus continues its offensive to recapture the C segment, which began with Arkana and, shortly, the New Mégane E-TECH Electric.
